Course 4 - Urgent Care Coding Basics- NEW

Good coding is a key to success in urgent care – but the specific knowledge, skills and understanding of the uniqueness of urgent care practice are what makes this a “must have” course for anyone interested in appropriate and timely reimbursement. 

This course is primarily for those new to urgent care coding – whatever your position.  Topics covered will include:

  • E/M Coding in detail – history, physicals, complexity & decision making, and the toughest part – putting it all together
  • ICD-9 Coding
  • Specialized coding – radiology, labs, ophthalmology, fractures, lacerations
  • Modifiers, the keys to payment

The course concludes with a Q&A session with faculty to make sure you go home with all of your questions answered.

Course 5 - Advanced Urgent Care Coding - NEW

This new program is for all of you who know that the basics are ultimately not enough – the complexity of urgent care demands much more advanced knowledge to really do your coding job well. 

Each session is designed as a true workshop – bring your ICD-9, CPT and HCPCS books with you.
Sessions are all at an advanced level and include: 

  • Training providers
  • Specific situations – coding pediatrics, advanced fracture and integumentary coding, IV hydration & nebulizer therapy, critical care
  • Technical challenges – modifiers -25/-57, ICD-9 issues, E/M coding challenges and other “coding conundrums”

The course concludes with a Roundtable Discussion with faculty to make sure you go home with all of your questions answered.

Continuing Education Credits

UCAOA will provide up to 11.5 hours of continuing medical education credit for the Fall Conference.  Specific additional credits are listed below or are pending and will be announced here as they are available.

  • American Academy of Family Physicians
    This activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for 11.50 to 11.25 credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians.  *Marketing course is 11.25, all others are 11.50.
  • American Academy of Professional Coders
    This program has prior approval of the American Academy of Professional Coders for 11.0 Continuing Education Units. Granting of this approval in no way constitutes endorsement by the Academy of the program, content or the program sponsor.

Registration Details

Registrations can only be processed with a payment.  The tuition price will be reflected by the date we receive payment. 

Group Discounts
A group discount is applied to groups of four or more individuals registering simultaneously and with a single payment.  The overall payment is discounted by 20% to all individuals in this group.  Registration and tuition must be received by the dates shown for discount pricing to take effect.   Additional individuals from the same organization who register after the main group registration will not receive the group discount (must be a simultaneous registration with original single payment).  Any changes or additions to original registrants may be subject to registration fees in effect at time of change or addition, but will include original 20% discount.

Cancellation Policy
A 20% tuition penalty is assessed if notification of cancellation is not received by September 1, 2008.  Applying tuition to a future UCAOA course will lower the penalty to $75, if received by September 12, 2008 (UCAOA will put the balance of the tuition into a “Hold Account” to be drawn upon at a future date).  After September 12, tuition is non-refundable.  Membership fees are non-refundable.

*Registrations after September 23
After September 23rd, registrations will be accepted on a walk-in basis only, on-site at the program, and will be accepted pending space available and payment is required at time of walk-in.  We cannot “hold a space” via phone, fax, e-mail etc. after September 23rd.  Walk-in registrations will be at late registration pricing and are subject to an additional $100 walk-in registration fee.

Course Materials
One copy of the course materials will be issued to each individual participant.  Participants must be on-site and attending in order to receive their individual course materials.
