FAQs about UCA2020 Urgent Care Convention 

[UPDATED 3/18/20] On-demand medicine doesn’t stand still – especially in times of crisis. In light of the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the in-person UCA2020 Urgent Care Convention, which was scheduled to take place in Las Vegas May 3-6, 2020, and are shifting to an online/on-demand option. With the recent state of emergency announcements from state and federal authorities, the safety and viability of convening in Las Vegas is no longer a reality.


We are working to answer all your questions, so this page will be updated frequently. In the interim, we thank you for your patience as we work to create UCA2020 2.0.

Why was the decision made to cancel the in-person UCA2020 event?


The decision to cancel the in-person UCA2020 event was not made lightly, and we were tasked with balancing the health and safety of our attendees with their desire to convene and connect at our eagerly-anticipated annual event. Las Vegas and the United States have declared a state of emergency, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated their large gathering guidelines on 3/15/2020 to recommend against gatherings of 50 or more. 


Will there be a "virtual" option?

Yes! And we are excited to share what we have started working on for you to still connect and learn as we convert UCA2020 to an ongoing "virtual" event through the year. We are working to make as much of the convention learning (including CME and live CUCMP credit), resources, and even some experiences (and surprises!) available to everyone. We're committed to innovative alternatives that ensure the urgent care and UCA community we've created together moves forward. We appreciate your patience and partnership as we do this work. Will I receive a refund for my UCA2020 registration?

We are working with convention facilitators, the host hotel, and legal counsel to finalize the cancellation and refund policy, and will be in contact with registered attendees as soon as the details are available. 

Please note: UCA is unable to cancel hotel reservations on behalf of our attendees. Hotel cancellations need to be processed directly through the Paris Hotel. They can be reached at 877-603-4389. We thank you for your patience as we work through these details.


Are ancillary (chapter, Foundation, etc.) events associated with UCA2020 cancelled as well?

Yes, all ancillary events, including the Foundation Celebration and any chapter or committee meetings, are cancelled. More details will be forthcoming.


Are you refunding flight or travel costs?

UCA is not able to manage refunds related to individual travel costs. Please contact your airline or travel agent directly to discuss specific cancellation policies and refund information. In some cases, airlines may offer refunds with no cancellation fees due to travel bans and this unprecedented situation. Most airlines have posted their positions on their website.


Will my hotel reservation be cancelled automatically?

No, UCA is unable to cancel hotel reservations on behalf of our attendees, exhibitors or faculty. Hotel cancellations should be processed directly through the Paris Hotel through the link in your hotel confirmation email, or by calling 877-603-4389.


Are there ways to earn CME or CUCMP credit virtually?

Yes! There are many ways to earn CME and live CUCMP credit through online learning on our website. We are also currently working behind the scenes to make nearly all of the facets of the convention available online. Details of what that on-demand access will look like will be made available as soon as they are finalized.
